Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients for Seafood Boil Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning (or Cajun seasoning)
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey (for a hint of sweetness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra spice)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • 1 lemon, sliced (for garnish)

Seafood Boil Seasoning (For the Boiling Water):

    • 2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning (or Cajun seasoning)
    • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
    • 1 tablespoon onion powder
    • 1 tablespoon paprika
    • 2 teaspoons salt
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
    • 12 bay leaves
    • 23 lemon halves (squeezed into the water, then dropped in)
    • 34 garlic cloves (crushed)

Instructions

Instructions for Seafood Boil Sauce:

  1. Melt Butter & Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet, melt butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant.
  2. Add Liquids & Seasonings: Stir in lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, smoked paprika, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and honey.
  3. Simmer: Let the mixture simmer on low heat for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  4. Taste & Adjust: Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add red pepper flakes for extra spice, or more honey for sweetness.
  5. Garnish: Stir in fresh parsley for color and garnish with lemon slices before serving.

Instructions for Boiling the Seafood:

  1. Prepare the Boiling Water: Fill a large pot with enough water to cover your seafood. Add the seafood boil seasoning ingredients to the water (Old Bay, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, bay leaves, lemon halves, and crushed garlic cloves).
  2. Bring to a Boil: Bring the water to a boil and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes to infuse the water with the seasonings.
  3. Add Seafood: Once the water is boiling, add your seafood. Start with longer cooking items like potatoes and corn, then add seafood like shrimp, crab, or lobster, which cook more quickly.
  4. Cook the Seafood: Boil the seafood for 5-10 minutes, or until cooked through (shrimp will turn pink, crab will turn bright red, and lobster will turn opaque).
  5. Drain & Serve: Drain the seafood, then transfer it to a large serving platter or table lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Drizzle with the prepared seafood boil sauce, tossing gently to coat.

Notes

  • Customize the Spice Level: Add more or less hot sauce and red pepper flakes based on your preferred spice level. You can also switch up the Cajun seasoning or Old Bay for different flavor profiles.
  • For Sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter boil, increase the amount of honey in the sauce and seasoning.
  • For Extra Flavor: Add some beer or white wine to the boiling water for an added depth of flavor.
  • Vegetables: Feel free to add corn on the cob, potatoes, or sausage to the boil for a heartier meal.
  • Serving: Serve with plenty of napkins, lemon wedges, and your favorite dipping sauces for the ultimate seafood boil experience.
