  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x

Description

These classic chocolate chip cookies are soft, chewy, and loaded with gooey chocolate in every bite. Perfectly golden on the outside and irresistibly tender on the inside, this foolproof recipe will quickly become your go-to for family desserts, cookie swaps, or just satisfying that sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (220g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups (350g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  • Mix the Wet Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
    • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Add the Chocolate Chips:
    • Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Shape and Bake:
    • Scoop 1-2 tablespoons of dough per cookie onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
    • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  • Cool the Cookies:
    • Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra chewy cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
  • Swap semi-sweet chocolate chips for milk or dark chocolate, or use a mix for added variety.
  • To store, place cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
